Abbie Youmans (5th Grade)Ms. Youmans is immensely excited to become a part of the Academy of Scholars family. After teaching in a high-performing charter school system for nearly four years, she is excited to educate students here. She has taught a diverse array of learners, which allowed her to expand her repertoire as to the various ways students can be guided to learn and retain information.

Committed to holistic teaching and the process of creating life-long learners, Ms. Youmans believes that learning extends well beyond the classroom. She is passionate about presenting trans-disciplinary materials to link curriculum in ways that offer students a better understanding of the world around them. She wants to help develop tomorrow’s leaders, individuals who can innovate to resolve the problems that the globalized world will present. She makes classes exciting, engaging and creative. She constantly seeks learning opportunities to develop additional teaching strategies to meet the needs of her scholars.

Ms. Youmans has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photographic Imaging from the Art Institute of Atlanta. She worked in the art industry for a few years. She pursued her Teaching Certification from Brewton Parker College and has been an enthusiastic educator since 2010.
