As a 2016 and 2017 Teacher of the Year nominee, Ms. Bellard can best be described as “Ms. Frizzle” from the Magic School Bus or “Mary Poppins”. She is a certified teacher filled with song and enthusiasm. Ms. Bellard is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a graduate of Southern University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice specializing in children and family services. She later earned a master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from Strayer University in Memphis, Tennessee.
As an elementary school educator with a background in both the public and private school sectors, Ms. Bellard strongly believes in a hands-on, differentiated learning environment. She feels education should be geared to spark the attention of scholars with interactive classroom techniques, including daily turn-and-talks, outdoor research activities, learning standards through songs, and scientific experiments. Ms. Bellard allows her scholars to explore classroom community engagement through flexible seating and daily cultural classroom circles. She is ecstatic to incorporate her love for teaching and learning at AOS and is eager to develop a strong family connection with scholars and parents.
When Ms. Bellard is not creating songs through standards, she enjoys being a dance mom and traveling with family.
