Shonte Dulin is extremely excited to be a part of The Academy of Scholars family. She is an energetic educator who encourages students to “Put Their Best Foot Forward” in every aspect of their lives. She is from “The Show-Me State” of Missouri and was educated in the Kansas City Missouri Public School District. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Missouri and is currently working on her master’s degree in higher education with an emphasis in Curriculum Design and Instruction.
Professionally, she taught in the very school system where she was educated. Reaching back with the intent to uplift is very much at the core of her beliefs. In addition to teaching in the Kansas City Missouri Public School District, she taught kindergarten through 5th grade in the Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS), and as of recently taught 4th grade.
She is the proud parent of not only a 4th grade elementary student, but 3 adult children who, upon their high school graduations, received full academic or football scholarships to various universities throughout the country. Raising children is one of the greatest gifts and responsibilities she has had. As a parent, she believes that a child’s first teacher is the parent. As a teacher, she believes that teachers have a responsibility to both the student and the parent, to work together as a cohesive team for the overall success of the student.
Outside of continuing her education, she is the founder of “Putting Your Best Foot Forward” which is a movement and mentoring program teaching effective communication skills. She enjoys cooking and baking for her family. She is secretly a comedian, as she’s been told, and is a proud, active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
