Summer Update Letter to Parents 6-27-2020

Dear Parents,

Over the past several months, we have faced together the historic challenges of COVID-19.  Our first priority is the imperative to keep our community safe while continuing our children’s daily education activities as possible and appropriate.  We are working with consultants and the Georgia Independent School Association to determine the measures we can take to enhance the school environment and safety in light of Covid-19 in order to safely welcome scholars back to our campus on August 17th.

We are continuing to monitor scientific developments and governmental guidance regarding Covid-19  and will update you about our plan for reopening in greater depth through a community communication on Friday, July 17.  This communication will detail our plan to safely reopen with information pertaining to the school’s implementation of policies and procedures such as face coverings, daily temperature checks, limitation of visitors in the building, plus information on our plan for scholars’ daily learning experience on campus. In the meantime, we ask that you take a few brief moments to fill out the parent survey using the link below.  Your feedback will be instrumental in helping us prepare for the 2020 – 2021 school year.

The Academy of Scholars is thrilled to announce the launch of a new division in the fall of 2020.  We will offer exceptional, Christian, affordable education to future scholars worldwide with AOS Online – Premier Online Learning ™.

Serving future scholars, kindergarten through grade 6, AOS Online offers the excellence of the AOS experience in the comfort of home or any other location.  It also allows the flexibility for online scholars to engage schoolwork at any time.  AOS Online teachers meet virtually with scholars daily through Canvas LMS, an industry leading learning management system that is now also in place in our brick and mortar school.  These daily lessons are archived so online scholars can watch them when it is convenient and re-watch them to help work through areas of difficulty.

Each virtual school day begins with morning meetings, where teachers engage online scholars with activities that help develop their social and emotional well-being.  Then, online teachers expertly conduct classes in a virtual setting using both whole group and small group instruction.  In order to further enhance the online scholar’s academic experience, teachers have weekly one-on-one virtual meetings with every online scholar to give individualized attention and feedback.  Online scholars can also interact daily with Encore teachers (Bible Studies and Character Development, Coding/Computer Science, Spanish, Physical Education/Health, Library and Media Studies).

If you know a family in another area of the country or world who has elementary school age children, tell them about AOS Online today!
