Welcome Back to School!

August 8, 2017

Dear AOS Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to school!

The faculty and staff at The Academy of Scholars welcome you and your family to the 2017-2018 school year.  To those of you who are new to the AOS family, let me be the first to congratulate you on your decision to partner with us as we continue to offer a stellar educational experience that will enable our scholars to reach their highest intellectual, moral, spiritual, physical, emotional and social potential in a safe, supportive, interactive and nurturing environment.  There will be a celebratory spirit to the start of our school year as we commemorate our fifth year as a school community along with the opening of the beautiful new building expansion, record enrollment, the addition of sixth grade, and the infusion of coding/computer science to our already first-class academic offerings.  We look forward to an AMAZING school year!

We pray that everyone can join us for our parent orientation program on Thursday, August 10th from 9:00-10:30 a.m. (PreK-Kdg.), or Friday, August 11th from 9:00-10:30 a.m. (1st-2nd), 1:00p.m.-2:30p.m. (3rd-6th).  On the day of orientation, parents will report to the general session in our spacious, newly-expanded multipurpose room.  During your visit, you may notice that the multipurpose room floor does not match the rest of the school’s décor.  This minor cosmetic issue will be rectified by the contractors over the course of the next four weekends.  There has been a delay in the completion of the floors in the multipurpose room due to color matching on the part of the floor company; however, refinishing the floor will not impact school activities nor will it affect the health or safety of our scholars.  After the general session:

  • Parents will meet with their child’s teacher in their classroom.
  • Kindergarten parents will remain in the multipurpose room and then visit their child’s classroom after meeting with the kindergarten team.
  • Teachers will send emails informing you of your child’s class prior to orientation.
  • For your convenience, class lists will be posted in the school on orientation day.

In the 2017 – 2018 school year, we will continue to offer outstanding programs promoting the academic, social, and spiritual growth of students and families including Goodies for Grandparents, Donuts for Dads, Muffins for Moms, the Daddy/Daughter Dance, our Christmas Program, Black History Program, Mother/Son Skate, Family Skate, and Thanksgiving Luncheon.  These activities and a plethora of others have been planned for scholars, parents, and teachers to connect and fellowship as a community.  You can help us with this mission by signing up for volunteer opportunities, serving as a room parent, or joining our parent prayer group.

We look forward to partnering with you to make this school year one of excitement, fellowship, academic success and fun.

Yours in Christ,

Stacy Lambert-Johnson
